APCOM 2005 in Tucson
March 30 – April 1, 2005
|
| APCOM provides a forum for industrial and
research communities working in the minerals industry to share and
stimulate the application of computer technology. This year, the symposium
returns to its origins at the University of Arizona to showcase state-of-the-art
industrial applications and emerging research. Montgomery & Associates
hydrogeologist Mike Rosko will be presenting “Analysis
of Time-Series Satellite Images to Monitor Changes in Natural Environments.”
Two of Mike’s colleagues — Errol Montgomery and Janis
Blainer-Fleming — coauthored this paper, along with independent
geologist Kevin C. Horstman. Mike will describe the advantages of
using spectral reflectance data from earth-resource satellites to
monitor natural hydrogeologic environments. This new tool is particularly
well suited for monitoring surface water and vegetation in areas where
data collection may be difficult or where historic data do not exist.
