In addition to her well-rounded skills as a hydrologist and geoscientist, Janis specializes in the analysis of satellite images to characterize historical and current environmental conditions and to assess changes over time. These tools are particularly useful in remote regions of South America, where access is challenging and field data are sparse.
Janis also has extensive field experience; she has designed, installed, and tested production, injection, extraction, and monitoring wells for a wide variety of water resource and environmental projects. Other interests include using her geologic skills to characterize mine sites and analyze lithologic conditions in saturated and unsaturated media .
