Our HydroGeoMetrics team develops customized systems for obtaining real-time hydrologic measurements: water levels, barometric pressure, flow rates, pumping rates, water-quality parameters, and various environmental indicators in the surface and vadose zone. M&A collects and stores sensor data using powerful, reliable dataloggers, transferring information into useful tabular and graphical formats. Data is available to clients on demand or at scheduled intervals via telemetry and manual downloads. We can also host web-based data portals so facility operators can access real-time field data. When necessary, we follow up with periodic digital reports, hardcopy reports, and data interpretation.
Capabilities
Our HydroGeoMetrics Team can...
- Design and implement vadose zone and groundwater monitoring networks
- Collect, validate, and interpret monitoring data
- Calibrate and maintain equipment
- Integrate databases and data-visualization portals
- Display data tabulations and real-time and historical plots using telemetry and web-based interfaces
- Develop custom reporting and visualization tools for operators, management, regulators, and the public
- Develop training tools and short courses
Applications
Surface water / groundwater monitoring. M&A designs and equips monitoring networks to assess how water levels in shallow aquifers respond to pumping in deeper ones. This information is essential to understanding how surface water and groundwater systems interact. We can also monitor the status of riparian flows and ecosystems through stream gauging, automated digital photography, and satellite imagery analysis.
Well field monitoring. Our systems for monitoring water levels, pumping rates, and water quality provide critical data for well field operators. This data can be used to ensure the availability of high-quality water supplies over both the short and long term.
Cover system monitoring: Stored waste from landfills, hazardous waste facilities, or mine tailings must be maintained in a dry and/or anoxic environment to avoid leakage, oxidation, or chemical degradation. Our sensors detect water or air leakage and monitor for ongoing chemical activity. Data can be stored for subsequent recovery or delivered directly to management’s computer terminal.
